Wilted Lettuce

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
1 small onion, diced
6 strips bacon

1.  Fry bacon, cool on paper towel. Pour off most of the grease
2. Saute' onion in remaining grease.
3. Break bacon into small pieces
4. Add sugar, vinegar and bacon. Heat until sugar dissolves.
5. Tear black seeded Simpson lettuce into 10 inch diameter bowl.
6. Pour hot ingredients over lettuce. Toss gently.
Serves 6
